Jazz At St Andrews presents; Alan Barnes Sextet

About

Following his electrifying 2023 concert with Wynton Marsalis at the Buxton Music Festival, Alan Barnes was commissioned to create a new set of sextet arrangements for 2024. Even without Wynton, the resulting performance was a triumph covering everything from New Orleans marching bands to the hard bop of Hank Mobley and Bobby Timmons, alongside swinging classics by Goodman, Ellington, Hawkins, and Basie, plus Barnes originals.
Alan Barnes (alto/baritone sax, clarinet), Chris Coull (trumpet), Nick Mills (trombone), Steve Ashworth (piano), Simon Thorpe (bass), Joe Edwards (drums)
