Rising Stars Artist Showcase is Brighton’s new platform for live bands who are on the cusp of greatness. Created by West Pier Recordings, the city’s emerging independent label, Rising Stars is a showcase brand dedicated to supporting outstanding artists from across the local and national scene. It is not a label showcase, but a series designed to shine a light on the very best up and coming acts.
This edition opens with Brighton based Lewis Monticelli, stepping forward from his alt rock past with an introspective and melodic sound inspired by Jeff Buckley, Elliott Smith and Nick Drake. Next is London based Matilda Grace, whose sharp pop rock sound echoes Lily Allen but with a stronger rock edge, earning her a number one in the Unsigned Chart with her debut single “Not Your Ex”. Closing the night is Brighton’s Joe Little, praised by Clash Music and supported by BBC 6 Music, bringing a unique blend of folk, left field pop and rocky intensity that fully captivates in both performance and delivery.
This is an amazing value gig, delivering three full performances from three outstanding bands and over two hours of uninterrupted live music. Rising Stars promises energy, artistry and talent you will want to say you discovered first.
