Journeys Festival of Dance returns to East Sussex this September with three days of high-quality, outdoor dance performances in public spaces across Uckfield, Hailsham and Bexhill. Produced by local event producers 18 Hours, the festival brings together internationally acclaimed companies and inspiring local talent to celebrate movement, music and community.
Friday 26 Sept, Bridge Cottage, Uckfield
Showmi Dance Company open the festival at Bridge Cottage, Uckfield with an uplifting Bollywood performance. Known for their colourful, high-energy style, they bring the joy and rhythm of Bollywood to life. Celebrating confidence, connection and community through movement, their vibrant set promises to kickstart the festival in style.
Saturday 27 Sept, Hailsham High Street, Hailsham
O'Driscoll Collective perform 'One%', a powerful breakdance and hip hop theatre piece exploring mental health and emotional connection. Following the performance join in a free workshop with O’Driscoll Collective to explore and try some of the dance movements you’ve just seen.
Sunday 28 Sept, De La Warr Terrace, Bexhill
The festival finale takes place on the De La Warr Pavilion Terrace in Bexhill with an afternoon of Kathak by the internationally acclaimed Sujata Banerjee Dance Company. Expect solo and ensemble works that highlight the elegance, rhythm, and expressive storytelling of this celebrated classical Indian dance form.
All events are free to attend, open to all ages. Just turn up and enjoy dance in the heart of your community.
