Karate Boogaloo

About

*"There's a cult following surrounding funk twisters Karate Boogaloo”***\- Beat Magazine**

**For fans of:** Surprise Chef, The Ironsides, Sholto, Sven Wunder, Strongboi, Project Gemini, The Meters, Booker T & The MG’s

**At the epicentre of Melbourne’s current renaissance of cinematic, instrumental soul sits Karate Boogaloo** - a quartet whose tightly coiled grooves owe as much to crate-digging purism as they do to a distinctly Australian sense of irreverence.

Meeting at high school , these four friends explored the teachings of the great small combo instrumental bands à la Booker T & The MG’s and The Meters.

Karate Boogaloo lace retro-soul self-seriousness with a wry, left-field wit. It’s a hyper-fluent, almost telepathic musical language forged over countless hours of basement jams and years-long camaraderie.

Fresh off a blistering European run alongside label-mates Surprise Chef, ‘KayBee’ are preparing to unveil their third full-length LP, Access All Areas. Arriving in 2026 via the reliably immaculate Colemine and College Of Knowledge Records.

*"Endlessly creative... A rich and cinematic musical language"***- Everything Is Noise**
