Neil Langman: Scenes Unseen

About

Neil Langman presents a collection of photographs that reveal the intimate architecture and secret worlds of the natural environment we pass by but rarely see. These images were captured by entering the woodland and slowing down, connecting with the magic that is present, developing a relationship of respect and wonder with all the beings that live there and allowing them to reveal themselves.

Scenes Unseen is a meditation on the beauty and inherent intelligence of plant life that is so easily overlooked. The intricate structures and purposeful designs all created from the code written into each seed is truly miraculous. It is by slowing down and breathing with the woodland that these intimate views of plants can be appreciated.

Some of the images present a closeup view of the plant structures and their aesthetic as they were found whilst walking through their habitat. These photographs are not manipulated nor were the subjects arranged. They were captured as they were found and left the same way. Other images are a more abstract view, presented in a way that is designed to evoke an emotional response to the colour, shape and texture of the plants without necessarily revealing their identity. These abstracts are often mixed using double exposures and intentional camera movement to create an image that cannot be found in the real world but imagined like dreaming. They express the relationships of flowers to each other as they live in harmony together.

Neil is a West Sussex resident, self taught photographer and this is his first solo exhibition. He brings you this collection of photographs as a way of sharing with you, the world he has discovered and fallen in love with.
