Olia Hercules for Strong Roots

About

Join acclaimed Ukrainian chef and author Olia Hercules as she speaks about her powerful new book Strong Roots: A Ukrainian Family Story of War, Exile and Hope.

Somewhere between a cookbook and a memoir, Olia tells the story of a century in Ukraine, told through four generations of one extraordinary family and their recipes.

From Olia's grandmother's deportation to snowy wastelands under Stalin, to her own parents' flight from Ukraine when their town was occupied in the 2022 war, it is an account of resilience in the hardest of circumstances and a celebration of the human spirit.
