About
Britain is at a crossroads. With Labour struggling to articulate a convincing vision and Reform capitalising on disillusionment, the Green Party has emerged as the fastest-growing political force in the country and Rachel Millward is one of its most compelling voices. In this session, Rachel Millward will set out what a Green politics would actually mean in practice: an economy that works for people rather than corporations, a housing system that delivers genuinely affordable homes, clean rivers and a liveable environment, and a vision of social justice that links the climate crisis to the everyday pressures people feel in their lives. This is not abstract politics. Rachel Millward has spent the past several years doing it for real leading Wealden District Council as part of a Green-led coalition, delivering affordable housing, nature restoration, and investment in community wellbeing in a district that had been Conservative for decades. She brings to this conversation not just the party's national vision but the hard-won experience of what Green governance looks like when it gets its hands on the levers of power. With Zack Polanski's Hope is Here setting out the party's boldest arguments, and with Rachel Millward selected as the Green candidate for the new Mayor of Sussex and Brighton in 2028, this is a politician at the centre of a movement that genuinely believes it can reshape British politics and is starting to prove it.
Rachel Millward is Deputy Leader of the Green Party of England and Wales. Before entering politics she built an award-winning career in the creative industries, founding and directing a successful international film festival and a national charity for women filmmakers. She has been a regular guest on BBC Politics, ITV, LBC, and Times Radio. She has served as Wealden District Councillor for Hartfield since 2021 and co-leader of the council since 2023, and is the Green Party candidate for Mayor of Sussex and Brighton in the 2028 mayoral election
A Q&A session will follow.
