Radical Rhizomes takes over Brightons Ironworks venue, for a public celebration, showcasing and sharing some of our favourite activities from our regular program.

Rhize Up Fest is a QTIBPoC-led space opento all alliesof Queer/Trans/Intersex Black people/People of Colour,
showcasing some of our favourite activities and some of the talents of our members.

Experience live performances by Radical Rhizomes members, immerse yourself in anaccessible movement workshop(TBA), and engage in a long table discussionaboutQTIBPoCcommunity, creativity, health, and wellbeing. Explore our abundant craft corner, and browse stalls sellingunique artworkcrafted by our talented community members.

Timings

3pm - Start - open for soft drinks and hot drinks, crafts, games, exhibition and stalls

3:15-4:15 - Movement workshop (booking link will be sent nearer the time)

4:30-5:15 - Speed friending (booking link will be sent nearer the time)

5:00 - Exhibition closes

5:15 - Meal served (book your meal ticket in addition to your entry ticket)

5:15-6:15 - QTIBPoC short films

6:15-7:30 - Longtable discussion (booking link will be sent nearer the time)

7:30-8:00 - Scribble time for reflections

8:00 - LAST ENTRY. Crafts, games and stalls close.

8:00-9:30 - Performances

9:30pm - End

Access

Venue Access:
We will be using all the spaces at Ironworks over the course of the day:

Main entrance (Foyer): wheelchair accessible.

Studio A (Main Auditorium): wheelchair accessible from main entrance, there is no wheelchair access to the quiet room directly from this space.

Studio B (Crafts and Games):wheelchair accessible from main entrance

Studio C (Long-table Talk Auditorium): wheelchair access only from outside (going around the building). Entrance door is 74cm wide, with a 4cm step.

Quiet Room (changing room): The entrance door for this room is 68cm wide. Wheelchairs can access this area coming from the Studio B (Long-table Talk Auditorium) door, which is 69cm wide. There is no wheelchair access from this space into the main auditorium, however you can go around and enter through the Main Entrance for that.

General access:

We try to make sure there are as few barriers to people joining events as possible. We can pay for participants local transport to/from events for reasons such as disability, health conditions, wellbeing and personal safety if it means they can come along and would not otherwise be able to. Please book a transport ticket in addition to your main ticket if you require this, but please be aware that we have a limited budget for this so only do so if you need it. We would ask you to book and pay for your transport and keep the receipt/s. We can then reimburse you if you fill in a short form which we will send to those who have requested transport 'tickets'.

Food

We will be enjoying a delicious gluten free, vegan meal supplied by a local, independent, POC owned business. Please get in touch if you have any other dietary requirements.

Buddy system

Radical Rhizomes has a buddy system for our members. If you are QTIBPoC and this is your first experience of Rhizomes and/or you are feeling nervous about coming along and meeting new people, you can book an 'I'd love to be paired with a buddy' 'ticket' in additional to your regular ticket. If you are an existing Radical Rhizomes member, you feel more comfortable and are able to offer yourself as a buddy you can book an 'I can be a buddy...' 'ticket' in addition to your regular ticket. Then we will endeavour to pair you and e-introduce you so that you can come together and hang out! These ticket sales end 24 hours before the event start time so that we can pair you. It may not always be possible to pair you depending on who else books, but we will do our utmost to do so.
