About
"Suddenly the door opened and the long and sinister figure of Mr Lytton Strachey stood on the threshold. He pointed his finger at a stain on Vanessa's white dress.
'Semen?' he said.
Can one really say it? I thought, and we burst out laughing. With that one word all barriers of reticence and reserve went down.”
Virginia Woolf, Moments of Being
'Semen?' is a twisted Bloomsbury cabaret from the deviant minds of performance provocateurs Harry Clayton-Wright and Anti Suzanne, co-presented by leading producers of queer culture Marlborough Productions.
Taking inspiration from the famously avant-garde and sexually liberated Bloomsbury group - the early 20th-century circle of writers, artists and thinkers like Virginia Woolf, Lytton Strachey and Duncan Grant - 'Semen?' asks: What happens when today's queer cabaret artists are locked in a room for a week with lots of impenetrable modernist literature and absolutely no boundaries?
The answer: A night of scandal, joy, filth and wit, through brand-new performances that push the limits of language, gender, desire and decorum.
Award-winning performance artist and Lytton Strachey doppelgänger, Harry Clayton-Wright joins forces with Stockport's grotty icon Anti Suzanne, a cake-sitting cabaret ingénue with the night also featuring some very special guests.
Come and enjoy the artistic alchemy conjured up over one intense week, where 'Semen?' promises a euphoric release. And once the curtain falls, the real climax begins when the dance floor becomes yours.
This event is co-presented in partnership with Marlborough Productions.
