About
In this first curatorial endeavour, Marina Burgess brings together fellow artists to explore the theme of Time through their unique and personal artworks. A tiny but fascinating exhibition, inviting us all to share what time means to us.
Marina Burgess
How do you feel about time? Are you rushing around with not enough time? Do you have too much time and nothing to do? Is your time even your own? Marina Burgess is currently exploring our human relationship to the idea of time. What are the conversations to be had? Through the art displayed she hopes to open the door to these conversations.

In recent years, Mike has been looking at the natural world as forms of sculpture, including driftwood, shells and beach ephemera. To Mike, these express the passage of time, from stones and fossils that are millions of years old, to the impact of the sea and sand on man made items.
For this exhibition, Mike has created objects that show how the apparent random placing of objects can create a sense of time. This is either through a nostalgic item that evokes memories of times past or a link to a different place.

Time is often understood as a linear progression from past to present, yet human experience suggests something more complex. Memories resurface, emotions endure, and histories continue to shape us long after their origins have faded. Georgia's artistic approach explores this through the concept of inherited time, the emotional, cultural, and familial histories carried across generations. Through portraiture, Georgia investigates how identity is shaped by both lived and inherited experiences. Layers of paint, text, erasure, and symbolism function as metaphors for accumulated memory, revealing how the past remains embedded within the present and continues to shape who we become.

Old buildings, scarred walls, scarred people, stained surfaces, scratched surfaces, scored surfaces. Surfaces which show that they have been around in our world for a long, long time.
Tom McNally
Tom McNally has been considering the use of stained glass windows as a medium that compresses culturally useful information into a teachable format that is stable over centuries of time. When time itself is the concept that a window must explain, we must call upon our culture's mythology as well as our science.
Nora Young
The carousel of time.
Entering the 79th year on earth brings rapid awareness that time is not limitless.
It circles.
Surrounds.
And is not limitless.
What is limitless is opportunity if planted in a field of awareness…
A prickle of excitement occurs.
A recognition seen in a drop, a stone, a cloud, a horizon, a world centred around a pivot.
Something known. Timeless.
'Time slips by like a field mouse,
Not shaking the grass.'
Ezra Pound.
