Following the global acclaim of his debut Dybbuk Tse! (named one of the best jazz records of the year by SF Jazz), Mayraz returns with his most daring work to date, Dogs Bark Babies Cry. Recorded live over three days at the legendary Konk Studios, the album captures a raw, cinematic tension that translates powerfully to the stage.
Expect a high-energy performance that seamlessly weaves together 90s hip-hop grooves, Middle Eastern textures, and the soulful grit of 70s jazz-funk trios. Backed by a powerhouse rhythm section featuring bassist Tom Driessler (Yussef Dayes) and drummer Zoe Pascal, Mayraz explores the "internal commotion" of modern life through tightly structured compositions and wild, improvisational flair.
