Woodfire Camping - The Round Hill

About

The Round Hill is Woodfire Camping’s private hire site in Firle. It is situated close to their Chapel Field campsite and the amenities of Firle village, but is beautifully secluded and exclusively available for group bookings of up to 60 guests.

Featured in The Guardian as one of “20 best campsites in the UK” and also by Time Out in its roundup of best campsites in the country, The Round Hill is a magical location right on the Downs, hidden from view beneath Firle Beacon and the South Downs Way footpath. There’s loads to visit, eat and do within easy walking distance, making it the perfect spot to while away a couple of days.

Campfires are allowed, hammocks are available and there's a sheltered seating area with a huge copper gypsy kettle for tea and hot water bottles. Hosts Stella and Griff can put up tents for you, cook supper over the fire and even do bacon, eggs, coffee and pastries for you in the morning. The crystal-clear drinking water is piped straight from a nearby borehole on the Estate, to the powerful hot showers and sinks.

The site is deep within the ancient Firle Estate, approached by car along a bumpy lane known as the Old Coach Road. Campers park and then ferry their gear up a farm track using big wheelbarrows. This secluded and serene slice of Sussex countryside is perfect for celebrations and corporate events.

What’s included:

  • Exclusive use of The Round Hill campsite
  • Facilities: hot showers, composting loos, tables, benches, fire pits and BBQs
  • One woodfire-cooked supper and one freshly baked breakfast delivered to you
  • 1 tonne-bag of seasoned firewood
  • Freedom to roam: direct access to the Downs straight from the site.

The Round Hill is available between April-end September and can be booked directly with Woodfire Camping, please email team@woodfire.co.uk or enquire via the website: https://www.woodfire.co.uk/woodfire-firle-private-events/

Woodfire Camping can also arrange use of a beautiful barn on the Firle Estate for group events, provide catering and drinks packages and arrange group activities from foraging to fishing.
