About
This heritage Garden is renowned for its rare shrubs and champion trees, created from specimens accumulated by the great Victorian plant collectors and tended with passion by four generations of the Stephenson Clarke family. Borde Hill combines outstanding vistas with tranquil outdoor garden rooms, including the delightful Azalea Ring and Rhododendron gardens, fragrant Rose Garden and scenic Italian Garden, plus subtropical dells and ruins of old potting sheds.
Borde Hill has recently been transformed with herbaceous plantings for summer colour and interest. Beyond the Garden visitors can enjoy magical woodland walks and lakeside strolls, picnic by the lake, or watch the kids play in the adventure playground. Unique events throughout the season including a Sculpture Trail, Roses in Bloom and Kids Activities from Spring to Autumn.
The 17 acre formal part of the Garden with easy access and gentle sloping paths make it the ideal place for group visits.
Visitors can buy a special plant or gift in our shop, or enjoy a vintage tea in the garden. Alternatively, spoil yourself in Cafe Elvira or Jeremy’s Restaurant.
Dogs on leads are welcome. House and garden tours also available.
Borde Hill is also ideal for weddings and is a wonderful setting for filming and photo shoots.
