Character is wear and tear and cramming a room with things you love and that's exactly what you’ll find here amongst the chaotic décor at The Hope & Ruin pub. There’s so much going on that you might miss some things on the first visit, but some of the reclaimed objects are so big you could literally live inside them.

Above the pub is a 150 capacity grassroots music venue that supports live music 364 days of the year from local bands starting out to international touring artists. Unmissable gigs of the past include The Strokes, Electrelane, British Sea Power, Adele, Bonnie Prince Billy, Michael Kiwanuka, Dua Lipa, & Self Esteem. Plus a host of up and coming local bands.

On the bar you will find plenty of lagers, keg beers and cask ales available from our orange and pink pumps. All from local brewers and those further afield. We also have a good selection on non alcoholic options and low ABV beers. All of our drinks offerings are 100% plant based.

The caravan in the corner is home to BEELZEBAB who offer the finest 100% vegan cuisine. Including their infamous award winning vegan kebab, loaded fries and hot dogs. As well as brownies and Boho Gelato ice cream. Keep your eyes peeled for monthly specials and new additions to the menu as well as special events.

Of course there’ll be DJs at the weekend. Plus swap shops, poetry events, Jazz Mondays and DIY bands in the bar. We also have a popular bi weekly collage club from Cult Milk.

The Hope & Ruin is completely unique, and one of the most visually arresting bars you will ever drink in, certainly in Brighton. Plenty of good times to be had.
