About

We are pleased to invite postgraduate students from across the School of Humanities and Social Sciences to participate inPostgraduate Research in the Humanities and Social Sciences: New Work and Emerging Ideas, a one-dayconferencededicated to showcasing the breadth, creativity, and critical engagement of postgraduate research at Brighton.

Theconferenceis conceived as a supportive and collaborative environment in which students can share and develop their work, engage with peers, and participate in a wider intellectual community. Rather than focusing on polished or finalised outputs, the event explicitly encourages the presentation of work in progress. It offers an opportunity to test ideas, refine arguments, and receive constructive feedback in a collegial setting.

Bringing together MA and MRes students from a range of programmes, the conference creates a space for exchange across different fields, approaches, and forms of inquiry. It is precisely this coming together of diverse disciplinary and creative traditions that gives the event its interdisciplinary character. At the same time, students are warmly encouraged to present work grounded in their own disciplinary, methodological, or creative frameworks; there is no expectation that individual projects be interdisciplinary in themselves.
