Brighton Seaside Treasures: Oyster Shell Art

About

Turn reclaimed oyster shells into beautiful jewellery dishes while sipping bubbly in a relaxed creative workshop inspired by Brighton’s coastal charm.

This experience is part of City Uncovered: Brighton, taking place from 1st–14th June 2026 — a limited-time series of unique, under-the-radar experiences designed to help you see the city differently.

Hosted by Brighton creative Charlie Doodle, this playful hands-on workshop invites you to slow down, get creative and transform natural oyster shells into elegant decorative jewellery dishes inspired by the Sussex coast.

With a glass of bubbly in hand, you’ll learn how to decorate and personalise two oyster shell trinket dishes using carefully selected materials, decorative finishes and coastal-inspired techniques. No experience is needed — just curiosity, creativity and a willingness to embrace a slower, more mindful way of making.

As you create, you’ll soak up the relaxed social atmosphere and discover how reclaimed seaside materials can be transformed into beautiful keepsakes inspired by Brighton’s artistic and coastal spirit. By the end of the session, you’ll leave with two finished jewellery dishes perfect for storing rings, treasures and seaside memories.

Expect sparkling conversation, coastal creativity and a completely different way to experience Brighton’s maker scene.
