Brighton’s Hidden Pub Stories

About

Step beyond the tourist trail and discover the historic pubs, hidden alleyways and unexpected stories that shaped Brighton’s nightlife.

This experience is part of City Uncovered: Brighton, taking place from 1st–14th June 2026 — a limited-time series of unique, under-the-radar experiences designed to help you see the city differently.

Led by a local guide, this immersive pub tour takes you through Brighton’s historic streets and tucked-away corners, revealing the fascinating stories hidden behind some of the city’s most characterful drinking spots.

As you wander through The Lanes, backstreets and lesser-known passages, you’ll uncover tales of smugglers, musicians, artists and eccentrics who helped shape Brighton’s colourful identity. Along the way, you’ll stop at a handpicked selection of pubs and bars, each with its own atmosphere, history and local character.

From centuries-old taverns to vibrant independent venues, the tour offers a different perspective on Brighton’s social and cultural history while giving you time to relax, soak up the atmosphere and enjoy a drink or two with fellow explorers.

Expect hidden passageways, lively stories, local recommendations and a completely different side of Brighton after dark.
