Causeway Chamber Orchestra - Concert Spirituel

About

Join the Causeway Chamber Orchestra as we discover the lesser-played masterworks of the 'Enlightenment era.' Our 2nd season takes us from the exciting and novel concept of public concert series with the Concert Spirituelto the high and most important royal courts of late-Baroque Europe in our By Royal Appointmentconcert. Accompanied by the rising talent today and led by the orchestra's founder Luca J. Imperiale, the CCO promise to deliver an unforgettable evening.

Jean-Marie Leclair, regarded as the founder of the French violin school, was renowned for merging the technical brilliance of the Italian style with the elegance and sensitivity of French taste. His Violin Concerto in D major, Op. 10 No. 3 is a shining example of this synthesis, full of graceful melodic lines and brilliant passagework. The talented young violinist Maya da Souza joins the CCO as soloist, bringing flair and refinement to this vibrant and stylish concerto.
Michel-Richard de Lalande remains one of the finest composers of the French Baroque, celebrated for his grand motets and orchestral works created for the splendour of Louis XIVs court. His Seventh Symphony for the Kings Supper comes from a collection of ceremonial pieces performed during the kings meals, blending stately rhythms with richly ornamented textures, and offering a vivid glimpse into the magnificence of life at Versailles.
The concert concludes with Joseph Haydns Symphony No. 83 in G minor, nicknamed La Poule ('The Hen') for its clucking motif heard in the first movement. One of the six celebrated Paris Symphonies, No. 83 combines dramatic minor-key intensity with Haydns characteristic wit and inventiveness, showcasing his unrivalled ability to marry expressive depth with sparkling charm.
Concert Spirituel promises an evening of musical elegance and spirited artistry, celebrating the brilliance and variety of a truly transformative era in music history.
