About
Join the Causeway Chamber Orchestra as we discover the lesser-played masterworks of the 'Enlightenment era.' Our 2nd season takes us from the exciting and novel concept of public concert series with the Concert Spirituel to the high and most important royal courts of late-Baroque Europe in our By Royal Appointmentconcert. Accompanied by the rising talent today and led by the orchestra's founder Luca J. Imperiale, the CCO promise to deliver an unforgettable evening.
Dietrich Buxtehude, best known for his influential organ and sacred music, also left behind a collection of chamber works that reveal his imaginative and expressive style. His Trio Sonata in B-flat major is a graceful and lively work, weaving intricate counterpoint with dance-like elegance, offering a glimpse into the flourishing instrumental traditions of the late seventeenth century.
Antonio Vivaldi, one of the most dynamic figures of the Italian Baroque, is represented with his Flute Concerto in G minor, RV 439 known as La Notte. This vividly dramatic work, filled with sudden contrasts and mysterious nocturnal moods, showcases Vivaldis flair for colour and atmosphere. Luca J. Imperiale steps out from the podium to take centre stage as the soloist for this evocative and expressive concerto.
Johann Friedrich Fasch, though less widely known today, was highly respected by contemporaries such as J.S. Bach. His Sinfonia in G major is a brilliant example of his lively orchestral writing, full of energetic rhythms, fresh melodies, and vibrant textures that hint at the coming Classical style.
The concert concludes with Johann Sebastian Bachs Orchestral Suite No. 3 in D major, one of his finest orchestral works. Renowned for the serene and soaring Air, this suite moves between stately grandeur and lively dances, capturing both the majesty and intricate craftsmanship for which Bach is so celebrated.
Making of a Great promises an evening tracing the roots of Baroque brilliance, charting the musical journeys that shaped some of historys greatest masters.
