Dj Mag Presents Shanti Celeste

About

Listening to Shanti Celeste feels like an explosion of colour. The Chilean DJ, producer and vocalist is a vibrant force in electronic music, charming dancers worldwide with her bright take on house, techno and downtempo, all brushed with a pop sheen.

Now her vision crystallises on her second album, Romance. Across nine tracks, Celeste explores the evolution of self-love, friendship and relationships over the lush, carefree production style she’s celebrated for. The LP marks her debut on Method 808, the London dance label home to SHERELLE, yunè pinku and LUXE. Written between Bristol and London in under a year, the album places her vocals front and centre for the first time. Romance unfurls like a rose-tinted daydream: “Butterflies,” featuring Austrian-Ethiopian harpist Miriam Adefris, is a rhythmic downtempo meditation, its bongo samples nodding to Celeste’s Latin roots. Her spoken-word mantra-“I wanted this song to feel like it was a secret, an inner thought”-lingers with intimacy.

She describes the record as born of personal growth, sparked by love and overcoming creative blocks: “All of a sudden I realised I had more to write about.” Though self-doubt lingered, she pressed on: “I learned I have to take risks and not stomp my own evolution just because I’m afraid of what people think.” Romance embodies that defiance-an ode to love, vulnerability and the strength of being open.
