About

The Brighton Music Tunnel is situated adjacent to the Brighton Sea Life Centre leading from its entrance to the beach taking you under Madeira Drive. The Tunnel has a rich history but more recently has been redeveloped and painted to include street art from renowned Brighton artist REQ.

The Tunnel has been re-decorated to include a wonderful array of portraits of some of the artists recognised in the Brighton Music Walk of Fame on Brighton Palace Pier. The Music Tunnel was originally opened in 2010 by Roger Daltrey, renowned musician and frontman of The Who.

The city’s aquarium – now SEALIFE Brighton – has had many incarnations over it’s long history, including as The Florida Rooms club and music venue in the 1960s.To celebrate the musical heritage of the venue, where many iconic bands played, art students from the University of Brighton painted tributes to the stars of Brighton’s music scene, from Dusty Springfield and ABBA through to Norman Cook and Sir Paul McCartney.

Refurbished again in 2018, renowned street artist REQ has brought some of the original artists back to life as well as adding a number of those inducted into the Brighton Music Walk of Fame to ensure that both attractions are linked.

You can see the original launch video and some of the new artwork below.
