James Tomlinson (Powell 201217) returns to his alma mater to sing and play the lute in a programme of music by the earliest English singer-songwriters who graced the court of Queen Elizabeth 1 and Shakespeare's stages.
To commemorate the 400th anniversary of the death oflutenist-composer John Dowland, James is joined by his former lute teacher, Michael Fields (lute, director), two of their singing colleagues from Norway and a member of James's own vocal ensemble, Fount and Origin, as well as some current College pupils and teachers.
Michael Fields, the founder of tonight's group, is the College's classical guitar teacher and is a lutenist and director of festivals and ensembles at home and abroad.
