Nicholas Houghton has devised another programme of really beautiful music for us to sing. This time it will be a collection of Gorgeous European Motets.
So many European composers wrote lovely pieces for choirs of soprano, alto, tenor and bass voices, it was difficult to make a choice!
We will journey through the centuries from 1564 with Timor et Tremor by Orlande de Lassus to 1938 when Francis Poulenc wrote his version of the same text. The programme also features works by Monteverdi, JS Bach, Brahms, Schubert, Fauré and others.
The church is a splendid venue with a fine acoustic and conveniently in the city centre.
Nicholas will conduct and Hamish Dustagheer will play the organ, though many items will be sung a cappella.
