Through a kaleidoscopic blend of first-person stories and memoir, from the silent generation of women in the 1950s to the influencers of the 2020s, Juliet Nicolson has discovered long-buried family secrets. She asks if once again, women are in danger of being silenced by censure, caution and fear.

Juliet Nicolson is the best-selling author of several works of social history, including Frostquake : The Frozen Winter of 1962 which she brought to Cuckfield Book Festival in 2021. Its a particular delight to welcome her back for our tenth festival.

Jo Durrant will be talking to Juliet. Jo worked for BBC Radio before becoming freelance and she now appears regularly as an event chair at literary festivals.
