About

The Gothic Crab - Brighton's 1st Seafood Boil house

Looking for a seafood experience that’s anything but ordinary? Just five minutes from Brighton beach in the heart of Kemptown, The Gothic Crab is the city’s first and only dedicated seafood boil house. Expect hands-on feasting, bold flavours and a setting that’s stylish, theatrical and full of character.

The Gothic Crab serves up Cajun inspired seafood boils and locally sourced seafood dishes including oysters, classic calamari, lobster burgers & Singapore Chilli Crab. Bibs are provided, and cracking claws is encouraged.

Never tried a seafood boil before? You're in for something special. A seafood boil is no ordinary dish; it's an experience. Dive into the Cajun-inspired seafood boils, piled high with steaming king prawns, lobster, crab, mussels and more, cooked with corn, potatoes and sausage. Each boil is tossed in a sauce of your choice, from rich garlic butter to classic Cajun or zingy Asian-inspired. You can even turn up the heat with our Brighton hot sauce. It's fun, it's a bit messy, and it's the kind of meal you'll be talking about for days. It's seafood boil, Brighton style.

Beyond the boil

Not in the mood to get messy? No problem. The menu also features beautifully presented seafood platters, freshly shucked oysters, soft-shell crab burgers and Singapore chilli crab. All dishes are made using the finest locally and sustainably sourced seafood.

Inside, it’s all gothic charm and Brighton energy. Think dark walls, chandeliers, velvet, gold and a laid-back, welcoming atmosphere.

Whether you're looking for a luxurious Seafood Boil, a curated seafood platter, or just some fabulous cocktails and small plates with friends, you're in the right place! This isn't your average Brighton seafood restaurant - it's seafood with attitude. This isn't your average Brighton seafood restaurant - it's seafood with attitude.
