About

\*\*\*\*\* Reviews Hub: "A Thing of Absolute Wonder." - "Captivating" - "Beautiful"
In 1967, Roger Patterson went for a ride in the woods with one of his buddies and returned with 60 seconds of footage of one of America's most enduring legends. Bigfoot.
That's the way Roger tells the story, anyhow.
Bluff Creek is a one-man show about the man who captured the so-called
'Patterson-Gimlin film' in 1967. The 60-second film, which depicts an alleged 'Bigfoot' walking across a dry creek bed and turning towards the camera, immortalised the image of Bigfoot we all know today. According to enthusiasts, the film has never been conclusively debunked, and many cite it as the most compelling evidence for the existence of Bigfoot.
However, the story behind the making of the film and the man behind the camera is just as fascinating as what it captures. A terminally ill rodeo clown with a pathological fascination with Bigfoot. A hustler, a con-man, as charismatic as he was mean. In Bluff Creek, Roger tells you his story from start to finish. He will look you dead in the eyes and tell you that he saw a Bigfoot out there in 1967, a story he maintained to his dying day, and you will want to believe him. But there's always the chance he's not being entirely honest with us.
Bluff Creek is a play about the nature of belief and the power of the unknown. The story of the Patterson-Gimlin film is a litmus test. To those who want to believe, the footage is almost too good to be true. To the more hard-headed among us, they merely see a man in an ill-fitting ape suit. But even the most ardent sceptics will still feel a tug in their gut towards the fantastical; A gnawing want to believe that the impossible could be lurking out in the woods of America's Pacific Northwest.
Bluff Creek debuted at the Brighton Fringe 2026 at the Lantern Theatre and received a glowing 5* review from The Reviews Hub [https://www.thereviewshub.com/brighton-fringe-bluff-creek-the-lantern-theatre/].
