Asbestos Awareness Training

About

This course is designed to provide instruction and training to build asbestos awareness and is intended to give workers, supervisors, and managers the information they need to avoid works that may disturb asbestos/items which may contain asbestos. Legal requirements to manage asbestos materials in buildings will also be discussed.

This course is delivered by our University Compliance Officer who has been working closely with the Health and Safety department for several years and has a wide knowledge of the management of asbestos materials and auditing.

The importance of asbestos awareness training:

Employees whose work could accidentally disturb asbestos may be at risk of ill-health, significant suffering, and loss of life if the risks are not managed effectively. The ability to access information and follow standard operating procedures is essential as it enables individuals to carry out their work safely and without risk to themselves or others.

Who is this for?:

This course is designed for anybody who may accidentally encounter asbestos as part of their work. This includes, but is not limited to, Technical Managers and Demonstrators, Workshop Managers, and School Safety Officers.

By the end of the course, you will:

Have a clear knowledge of asbestos products that you are likely to encounter Be able to access asbestos information held on the university’s database via a mobile or desktop device Know what to do in the event of an asbestos emergency

Additional information:

Thank you for demonstrating your commitment to implementing sound safety procedures. Please note that the course is free of charge.  If you wish to cancel, we require five working days' notice, otherwise there will be a cancellation fee of £50 to your department.
