BODEGA is a NYC art rock band that formed in 2016 from the ashes of the trickster collective Bodega Bay (2013-2016). The band’s leaders and songwriters Ben Hozie and Nikki Belfiglio are also multi-disciplinary artists; Ben is a filmmaker (PVT chat starring Julia Fox and Peter Vack) and Nikki a visual artist, creating all the artwork for the band's musical releases, including an aquarium filled with handmade miniature pieces for their upcoming album ‘All Inside Aquarium’ out 9th October on @chrysalisrecs.
Known for their unpredictable live shows; never playing the same setlist twice, the band employs philosophical and literary lyrics that search for the hidden influences behind everyday thought and behaviour. The band’s mantra is ‘the best critique is self-critique’ and their songs often employ sharp wit towards their own philosophical and political hypocrisies and blunders.
The new album, All Inside Aquarium draws on the late 80s / early ‘90s, channelling Stone Roses and Jane’s Addiction as key influences.
