About
This anarchic comedy blends puppetry, pop-culture parody and a deep love for Princess Diana to create a fast paced and delightfully absurd performance. It's not one to be missed.!.
When Jen discovers an underground lair of alien creatures with plans of world domination, she must do everything in her power to thwart their efforts before undercover extra-terrestrial Beryl Stump is elected the next UK Prime Minister. With the help of Princess Dianas diary and the noble efforts of her wonderful audience, Jen might just make it.
The cast multi-role a range of characters, from Austin Powers to Larry, the Downing Street cat. Distinctive for its mix of satire, silliness, and audience collaboration, the show transforms unease about our current times into collective laughter. Using a range of puppets and larger than life props, the performance is very low-tech and visual. Expect to get involved as Jen reaches out for help saving the day.
Beneath the absurdity lies a genuine question, what can we do when the world feels unjust and out of control? In this case, its simple. Gather together, take action, and find hope through shared experience.
Halfway Down Theatre is a small, Brighton based theatre collective made up of predominantly queer artists. With a keen interest in stories of hope, they focus on amplifying LGBTQA+ voices and tales of taking action against unfairness. Known for creating bold, playful and emotionally resonant work, their previous production Saint was praised by Binge Fringe as ringing with soul and sensation.
Camp, political, interactive and defiantly hopeful. This is a Fringe show for anyone who wants to laugh (instead of cry) at the current state of the world. For the sake of everything you hold dear, come along and help us save the planet.
