When tragedy strikes, Gen's world is turned upside down. Following yet another run-in with the Police, Community Service beckons at the last place on earth she wants to be, Newmark Care Home, a punishment she resents. There she meets Grace, a former headmistress. Their rocky first encounter soon gives way to an unexpected friendship and Grace becomes Gen's new confident.
But all is not well at Newmark and after several confrontations with the owner, Dr Coldwell, Gen discovers he has a secret past. With the support of Geoff, her Probation Officer, Nurse Clarke and a friendship with Grace that spans a generation, Gen discovers a new path, a new strength to find the person responsible for the tragic events that have taken place and for the first time... hope!
