About
A single actor stands before an empty stage, conjuring a lifetime in theatre through voice alone. The staging is described, not shown; the sign language lives onscreen. Every choice embodies radical accessibilitymaking this performance equally alive for Blind and Deaf audiences.
Yet in a twist of irony, the venue itself is not wheelchair accessible. Within that contradiction, Ghosts of the Gilded Stage becomes both elegy and protest: a meditation on art, memory, and who gets to enter the room.
Written by Jeanmarie Simpson and performed by Michael Rawley, this 50-minute solo play from Arizona Theatre Matters is a luminous act of inclusion, inviting us to listen differently and see anew.
