Half term Activity Week

About

Ditchling Museum of Art + Craft invites families to enjoy a week of creative, hands-on activities this February half term. Running from Tuesday 17 to Sunday 22 February, 11am–4pm, these drop-in workshops take place in the museum's Clore Learning Space and are free with museum entry.

Across the week, visitors of all ages can explore making inspired by the museum's collections and the rich craft traditions of Ditchling. On Tuesday and Wednesday, families can create wooden spoon puppets, work with clay, and try weaving on tabletop looms.

Thursday is dedicated to weaving, drawing inspiration from historic textiles and the work of Ethel Mairet. Participants will experiment with colour and texture using yarns, fabric, raffia, paper, and cardboard looms, inspired by the surrounding Sussex countryside.

On Friday, the focus turns to printing, with hands-on activities inspired by the Ditchling Press. Visitors can try letterpress-style printing and experiment with Gelli plate prints.

Over the weekend, drop-in craft activities continue throughout the day, including puppets, clay making, and weaving. Alongside the workshops, families can also enjoy museum trails and family activity bags.

A creative and welcoming half-term experience for all ages.
