Introduction to Watercolour Workshop

About

Discover the wonderful world of watercolour painting!

This comprehensive day workshop is a relaxed way for beginners to learn some techniques while becoming familiar with watercolour materials. No drawing skills needed, just lots of enthusiasm for watercolour painting. It’s the perfect opportunity to begin your painting journey and ask any questions along the way - nothing is too simple to ask!

All materials are included.

We’ll also provide plenty of tea, coffee, cold drinks and homemake cakes to keep you going throughout the day but please bring a packed lunch with you.

What you’ll learn about on the day:

- Watercolour materials
- A guide on the watercolour materials you’ll need, what to invest in and what not to!
- Watercolour exercises and techniques
- I’ll introduce you to a variety of useful “warm up” painting exercises to help brush control.
- We’ll cover all the basic techniques of how to control paint and how to use the unpredictable nature of water to your advantage. By the end of the workshop you’ll understand the wonders of watercolour and how to love your mistakes!
- Watercolour extras
- When and how to use salt, masking fluid and white gouache paint to enhance your paintings
- During the morning, practicing the techniques you’ve learnt, you’ll create simple fruit illustrations, flower stems and a cute hedgehog!

After lunch we’ll go on to looking at watercolour washes and how to use these to create a beautiful landscape. You’ll finish the course with the opportunity to frame one of your paintings in a ready made frame provided on the day.

What you’ll go home with:

- A folder full of the class notes and guides on the techniques you have covered as well as the useful reference materials you have created to refer back to in the future.
- Your wonderful framed watercolour painting - ready to pop on your wall!
