English Tourism Week returns in March, although tourism is such an important industry that the week is actually 10 days as it runs from the 13th to the 22nd.
VisitEngland leads the campaign which is a celebration of our diverse, exciting and vibrant sector. The theme this year is ‘Local Stories, National Growth — Celebrating English Tourism Week.’
Each year 12.2 million of you lovely people visit our compact city, generating £1.3 billion for the economy and supporting 25,677 jobs. So, while tourism is a fun industry, English Tourism Week is a wonderful opportunity to acknowledge the importance of the visitor economy.
But I think that's enough statistics for one post, instead let's take a look at some of the fabulous events taking place from 13th to 22nd March and with so much going on we've included a couple of suggestions of places to stay so you can make a break of it...
Friday 13th March

Monday 16th March

Tuesday 17th March

👑 Visit the Royal Pavilion and experience a fantasy palace fit for a king. The spectacular seaside palace of the Prince Regent is one of the most dazzling and exotic buildings in the British Isles.

Wednesday 18th March

🧸 Enjoy a nostalgic trip at the Brighton Toy & Model Museum, home to one of the finest public collections of toys and models in the world with over 10,000 exhibits on display, including collections of toys from the golden age of toy making from the world’s top manufacturers plus a rare vintage model train collection.
🎟️ Visit Brighton Dome to see Dan Schreiber and enjoy an evening of mind-blowing stories, unbelievable coincidences, jokes and facts that will make you question everything you thought you knew.
Thursday 19th March

🍸 From cover pop, funk & soul bands, to rock covers and even steam punk and blues…there is something for everyone to tap along to while enjoying the amazing molecular cocktails, casual drinks, or food in the eclectic artistic venue Bohemia.
📽️ Play Back Forward at Hove Museum explores the legacy of Brighton & Hove’s early film pioneers, George Albert Smith, Laura Bayley Smith, and James Williamson. The exhibition weaves together archival films, creative responses by young people, and new collaborative works by artists Chahine Fellahi and Annis Joslin.
Friday 20th March

🌞 Celebrate the arrival of spring at Lido Nights, a vibrant live music evening showcasing the very best of local talent in the iconic surroundings of Saltdean Lido. Marking the Spring Equinox — a time of renewal, longer days and fresh beginnings — this special edition welcomes the new season with uplifting live performances and great company.
🎶 Head to Green Door Store to see Ladylike. The Brighton based quartet serve their folk rare: raw and pastoral, but with a side of textural, atmospheric builds directly wired into the tensions of the modern world.
Saturday 21st March

🎭 Join Skip’s Family Workshop for an undersea adventure in this magical workshop packed full of wonderfully imaginative arts & crafts and making & playing around the Theatre Royal Brighton.
😂 Get set for an evening of giggles at The Forge Comedy Club. Acts that have appeared previously include Romesh Ranganathan, Russell Kane, John Bishop, Sara Pascoe, Stephen K Amos, Rob Deering, Jen Brister, Zoe Lyons, Jen Ives and many more.
Sunday 22nd March

🐠 SEA LIFE Brighton features 5,500 mesmerising creatures including Rays, Sharks, Turtles, Terrapins, Star Fish, Seahorses and an Anaconda.
🏠 Upside Down House is a luxurious turquoise beach house with a variety of designed rooms with a bespoke gaming area, a jukebox and a vintage bicycle on the ceiling.
Places to Stay

English Tourism Week starts on World Sleep Day which we think is a sign that you need to book a place to stay to make the most of the week.
