About
What to Expect
You will be learning from two experienced food loving foragers, Iside and Mayla. Iside is a botanical brewer of Old Tree Brewery, an expert in all things fermented and she is always coming up with wonderful culinary creations made with foraged ingredients. Mayla teaches foraging through the lens of radical history and social justice and is part of the mutual aid Group Burning Mugwort which is working to make herbalism, foraging and land connection accessible for all.
We will be starting with an introductory talk covering good foraging practice and the politics around it before heading intoStanmer Park to have a look at what spring has to offer. We will mainly be looking at the fresh spring growth of wild greens but we may also find some edible mushrooms and lichen.
Accessibility Info
The majority of the day will be spent walking at a slow pace with frequent stops. There will be some uneven and rough ground and at least one hill to climb. There will be lots of opportunities to stop, rest and sit down, including the picnic. We will try and provide some things to sit on but please also bring your own if you can as unfortunately we are limited in what we can carry (we dont currently have access to a car). The workshop will be delivered in verbal language only (English and Italian) but there will be many elements of tactile learning such as optional interacting with plants, including touching, smelling and tasting.
Please send us a message on here or email maylawestward@pm.me if you have any specific concerns or accommodation requests.
