When Bea arrives unexpectedly at her best friend's home in Brighton after five years in Australia, she comes alone. She has left behind her life, her husband and her children.
A decision her friends struggle to support or even understand.
As questions mount - why did she leave? Why didnt she bring the children with her? Why wont she go back for them? - the lives of those around her begin to unravel too. With a teenager trapped in London's riots and family tensions simmering beneath the surface, friendships are tested and long-held beliefs about parenthood, love, and responsibility are challenged.
