About

Come on down to the Jazz Jamboree - an evening of toe tapping live music in the Secret Garden, Kemptown.

Join us in The Secret Garden for an intimate open-air performance by The Jazz Jamboree Orchestra, a much-loved Sussex-based jazz ensemble renowned for its rich, uplifting sound and wonderfully eclectic repertoire.

Hidden behind historic Regency walls, this special evening brings together outstanding live music and the unique atmosphere of one of Brighton's best-kept secrets. Bring a picnic, gather friends and family, and relax amongst the late-summer flowers as the garden is transformed into an atmospheric outdoor concert venue. As daylight fades and the garden settles into evening, enjoy an unforgettable celebration of music beneath the open sky.

About The Jazz Jamboree Orchestra:

Directed by trombonist Mark Bassey, The Jazz Jamboree Orchestra is a Sussex-based amateur ensemble comprising around 25–30 talented musicians, including brass, saxophones, woodwind, rhythm section and vocalists.

Their programme is as entertaining as it is varied, blending jazz classics with much-loved popular music, from Duke Ellington and Abdullah Ibrahim to Simon & Garfunkel and Freddie Mercury, alongside original compositions written and arranged by Mark and members of the orchestra.

From swing and Latin rhythms to funk, blues and contemporary favourites, the orchestra's warm, vibrant sound has delighted audiences across Sussex. Their full orchestral performances are full of energy, colour and joy—perfectly suited to an evening in the garden.

Whether you're a lifelong jazz lover or simply looking for a memorable evening in beautiful surroundings, this promises to be a wonderful way to celebrate the close of summer.
